The first thing you notice on this sauce is the rich dark, almost black color. The bottle says that color comes from ‘activated coconut shell charcoal, a mild ingredient with detoxifying properties’. The bottle also says ‘carefully selected ingredients that are organic and local as much as possible’. You can tell the care and sophistication that you would expect from a company with the name of “Queen Majesty”. This is the 3rd different bottle of Queen Majesty and I have to say, their recipes are extremely tasty as well as creative. I don’t even want to call them a ‘hot sauce’ as that undervalues the flavors and true creativeness of the recipes. This is not a company just trying to pump out hot sauce, this is a company making great tasting flavorful sauces that you can tell they have put some serious time and attention to.
The bottle says this is ‘very hot’ heat level, and it does have some great heat, but in today’s recipes, you cannot say this is really very hot. Don’t get me wrong, it has great heat, you definitely feel it, but this isn’t a forehead sweating sauce. The taste is phenomenal, the texture is great and the consistency is great. There is nothing I can compare this awesome flavor to; with white vinegar, orange juice, black plums, apple cider, sweet onions, habanero, ghost pepper, ginger, and garlic. While all of those ingredients sounds complicated, they work together to provide one heck of an experience that is very unique.
