ToggleWhether tailgating at a football game, around a campfire surrounded by friends and family, or just about anytime else, who doesn’t love a hot bowl of chili?
For me, chili definitely dominates as my comfort food of choice once the Fall weather hits me in my hometown of the Flower City – Rochester, NY.
Everyone and their mother has “the best” chili recipe.
Regardless of your favorite type of chili, we think these hot sauces added to any blend will knockout the competition with both heat and flavor.

If chili is in its name, we had to include this, right? This is our absolute favorite overall hot sauce and time and time again this sauce finds its way into any bowl of chili we make. Don’t let the name scare you, this sauce is not as hot as you would be led on to be. You won’t die from its medium heat, but you might just die from how amazing its flavor is. A nice sweet heat with honey and a hint of brown sugar, mixed in with some cayenne and Cajun seasonings. An absolute must regardless of chili style.
This sauce will make you want to travel back in time to the moment you first had it added to your favorite chili again and again. Sauced and Glazed produces Doc’s Fusion Fuel, made with red habanero peppers mixed into a smoky, BBQ-like tomato base. This one adds a complex flavor to any style of chili. Great Scott it’s hot!
As seen in the featured image for this list, we absolutely love Elijah’s Xtreme Ghost Pepper in a white chicken chili recipe. While you definitely get the heat from the ghost pepper, it is rounded out nicely with some habaneros. I love tomatoes as part of a hot sauce base and you’ll find that in this one.
The great thing about chili being a vessel for hot sauce, is you can add just a little and still get all the flavor and heat you are looking for. Love Burns is in my opinion the best super hot sauce that does this. Carolina Reapers, 7 Pot Primos, Ghost, Trinidad Scorpions – yeah – these are hot. Not many hot sauces do a mix of these well, but I promise you’ll love Love Burns!
On those really cold days, we love to add Karma Sauce’s Extreme Karma to dial up the heat. Straight pepper flavor coming from Scorpion peppers will definitely bring you up to temp! If you want a little chipotle flavor added – try the Extreme Smokey version of the sauce as well!
As you can tell, I like to add some heat to my chili, but I also enjoy some medium heat selections too.
I hope you enjoyed reviewing my choices, let me know what you think in the comments below!
