Best Hot Sauce For Wings

Death By Chili - Mild - a best hot sauce for wings

With Flower City Flavor Company being based in Rochester, aka the “Flower City”, just an hour drive from the birthplace of Buffalo Wings, the Anchor Bar, we know a thing or two about them!

Wings are definitely in my “elite” foods category.

What better food is there when watching football? Or to share as an appetizer amongst friends at a restaurant?

Being supreme hot sauce lovers, we know there are so many amazing hot sauces you could use on wings.

The latest addition of my “Best of” series looks at my choices for the best hot sauces for wings that are out there that I find myself using again and again.

To pare this list down to the selections presented here was quite difficult, however, I think you’ll find some excellent choices the next time you’re ready to sauce ’em up yourself!

This list is not limited to traditional Buffalo style sauces, you’ll find some other great styles on this list, like mango habanero and garlic, so get your deep fryer ready prepped and take a look at our favorites!

*Note – We did not list sauces that are marketed specifically as a “wing sauce” (such as RJ’s Original for example). This list are hot sauces that just so happen to be awesome on chicken wings!

Death By Chili – Mild

Not everyone loves heat, and that’s ok! If you want to impress your friends and family with amazing flavor – DBC Mild is what to serve them. Sweetness from honey and brown sugar overlay just an ever-so-slight ting from chile de arbols, cayennes, and Cajun seasoning. Want a medium heat – grab the Original. Want a lot of heat with no sweet? Go Extra Hot for the win. Whatever you do, make sure you get a 12oz bottle – trust me!

HYCH Nashville Hot Chicken

Not just for fried – get ’em on some wings! Nashville hot chicken is great, and there are a lot of terrific hot sauces inspired and made for it, but our favorite is from HYCH: Heat You Can Handle. The red jalapeno with brown sugar and secret spices. You’ll think you are on Honky Tonk Highway with this Scovie Award winner!

Karma Sauce Buffalo

I’m not going to write out Buffalo eight times, haha! Want a traditional Buffalo style sauce with an interesting twist? Looker no further to Karma Sauce, who does anything but traditional when it comes to hot sauce. The secret ingredient in this one? Fig concentrate. Creator Gene Olczak is a genius, and once again nailed it with this one. A garlic tang awaits you. Cut it with butter, or douse as is, you can’t go wrong either way.

PepperNutz Carolina Gold

I love me some Carolina Gold mustard style hot sauces and PepperNutz released this gem not too long ago (at the time of this writing) and it has quickly become my favorite gold hot sauce. Semi-sweet and tangy – brown sugar and of course Habanero and Cayenne heat make this one a winner.

Torchbearer Sauces Son of Zombie

For the chipotle lovers out there, it’s a thick and smoky sauce that was designed as a dual hot sauce/wing sauce, and who are we to disagree? Bonus points if you grill your wings with this one. Torchbearer has a ton of other dedicated BBQ and Wing sauces you can use, but there is no denying Son of Zombie’s place at the very top.

Best Hot Sauce For Wings: In Conclusion

Note to self – do not write a “best of” list on an empty stomach. I’m ready to go to throw some wings in and pull out these sauces.
