With Growth Comes Opportunity
As Flower City Flavor Company continues to grow, I’m making it a top priority to find the best brands available for you, my customer.
Don’t get me wrong, we already have an incredible lineup. Anything Karma Sauce comes out with is pure gold. Have you tried Fresco Sauce? There’s a reason their Chipotle & Habanero made it on Hot Ones…it’s damn good. The list goes on and on.
There are multiple great third party hot sauces on the internet to go for your saucy fix. I needed to find a way to set myself apart. Though most, if not all, of our competitors don’t offer olive oils and vinegars as we do, that buying market doesn’t crossover to hot sauces.
With that realization, what was going to set me apart is getting brands in the store that no one else has.
It was my mission to find a top brand you can’t find in any other third party store, and boy have I found a great one: Fartley Farms.
Introducing Fartley Farms
Coming out of Columbus, Ohio, Fartley Farms is Flower City Flavor Company’s newest brand.
When I first came across Fartley Farms, I knew right away I
wanted needed them in the store.
Owner Ron Fartley has created not only excellent hot sauces (which I’ll get to in a moment), but his site has a weekly blog series where he embarks on a quest to find the spiciest dish in the Columbus area.
You don’t have to be from Columbus to appreciate Ron’s journey through the city trying all different dishes. A small business helping promote other small business shows you his appreciation for others in his community.
Also on the site, be sure to check out his recipes as well, such as his Ginger Reaper Crack Weenies!
Fun Names, Fresh Flavors
With a name like “Fartley Farms”, you know you’ll get some hilarious names for the sauces that fit the branding. As of this writing, the lineup consists of four sauces, ranging in different heat levels and flavors. They are…
The everything sauce for everybody. Garlic lovers will rejoice in its strong flavor which pairs perfectly with the Serrano peppers for a sauce that’ll leave a tingle but not scorch your mouth overtake the flavor of the food you are putting the sauce on.
Ingredients: Chile Peppers (Serrano, Bell Peppers), Distilled Vinegar, Garlic, Cayenne Pepper Powder, Salt, Spice
If you’re like me and a fan of sweet and smokey hot sauces, we’ve found a winner. Throw this on a taco or any Mexican dish but make sure to buy more than one bottle because I guarantee you’ll go through this one quickly.
Ingredients: Vinegar, Bell Peppers, Habanero Peppers, Brown Sugar, Onion, Garlic Cloves, Adobo Spice, Salt, Liquid Smoke
Everyone knows that I’m a huge balsamic vinegar fan and there’s very few hot sauces that feature it and do it well. Move them all over, here is your undisputed king. The sting of the Reapers with the ginger bite provides a truly unique experience.
Ingredients: Balsamic vinegar, Carolina Reaper, Maple Syrup, Ginger, Adobo, Coriander
Ok hot sauce fans that like their heat, this one deserves a spot in your rotation. The sinister sting from the scorpion pepper will light up your mouth along side the garlic for an extreme heat hot sauce that actually tastes good.
Ingredients: Scorpion Peppers, Distilled Vinegar, Garlic, Apple Cider Vinegar, Salt
