Blood Orange Olive Oil
Blood oranges might have a somewhat unusual name (they’re named for the distinctive dark reddish-maroon color of their flesh), but they’re a beautiful, wonderfully tasty and juicy fruit.
Compared to other, more common types of oranges, blood oranges do have a taste of citrus but with a sweet and slightly tart note of raspberries. And just like other oranges, blood oranges can be eaten as is or used in juices, desserts.
To make our blood orange olive oil, we actually press olives and blood oranges together, which we’ve found is the best way to impart the flavor of blood oranges to the olive oil; and the sweet, tart flavor of blood oranges complements the fruity, slightly peppery flavor of our olive oil perfectly.
It’s no wonder why it’s one of our best sellers. (Once you try this oil for yourself, you’ll see why!)
Our blood orange olive oil contains flavors that are versatile and work deliciously with an array of ingredients. For an added boost of flavor to any salad, try substituting it for an unflavored oil in salad dressing.
You can also make a vinaigrette like this Mediterranean or Citrus. It would also make a delicious substitution in seafood recipes – like this Slow-Roasted Salmon – and desserts – like this Bread with Chocolate and Blood Orange Olive Oil.
